Abstract: Glyphosate is a non-selective herbicide whose inventor, the Monsanto Corporation, patented the Roundup brand. The company owns the transgenic seed, tolerant to the herbicide, which currently represents 77% of the world area of genetically modified crops. Glyphosate was created in the sixties, introducing itself later in Latin America. Today, its use has increased throughout the region, becoming the vedet of the “technological package” imposed by the corporations that gives continuity to the Green Revolution. Promoted this herbicide as an important step to overcome agrochemicals that were highly toxic to humans and other non-target organisms, the corporations that currently use it obtain millions in profits not only because of their application in transgenic crops. However, they begin to present evidence on their toxic effects in humans and wild flora and fauna, direct and indirect environmental damage, and emergence of resistance in weeds that are their target. We present two works on this topic: the first, with emphasis on the evidence of environmental impacts and on health; and the second, from the perspective of glyphosate as a weapon of war the first, with emphasis on the evidence of environmental and health impacts; and the second, from the perspective of glyphosate as a weapon of war the first, with emphasis on the evidence of environmental and health impacts; and the second, from the perspective of glyphosate as a weapon of war.
