Abstract: The transgenic and non-transgenic cotton seed oil were used as materials to analyze the composition and concentration of fatty acids. The results showed that 16 kinds of fatty acids were detected in transgenic cotton seed oil, and 15 kinds of fatty acids in non-transgenic cotton seed oil; concentration of most of the 15 kinds of fatty acids (C14:0, C18:0, C18:1, C18:2, C18:3, C20:0, C20:1 and C24:0) in transgenic cotton seed oil were lower than those in non-transgenic cotton seed oil, but concentration of C16:1, C20:5 and C22:1 were more in transgenic cotton seed oil, and the total fatty acids decreased by 7%. From the point of view of saturation, it decreased less in the transgenic cotton seed acids . All the above data showed that the introduction of exogenous gene could change the composition and concentration of fatty acids in plant seed oil, which could influence the edible safety and nutrition of plant seed oil. The mechanism of fatty acids change in transgenic cotton seed should be studied in the future.
