Abstract:
In the present study, an animal model was established by feeding with maize low-nutrient diets, and the imported genetically modified (GM) soybeans was evaluated through the novel BDI-GS system approaches established for functions and safety of food. The growing healthy ICR mice were selected as subject, the control mice were fed simply with maize diet, and the mice subjected test were fed with maize blending 15% conventionally natural soybean and 15% GM soybean. Through the whole duration of 13-day feeding test, obtained mice body weights, 9 parameters of organ or tissue weights, indices and its BDI, GS, further analyzed the serum biochemical parameters as adjuvant evidences. The results show that RR soybean may thwart growth performance of test mice, obviously decreased BDI in part parameters and accumulation of general score (GS). The different nutrition and health effects for RR and natural soybean mainly existed in organ parameters of thymus, pancreas and spermary. It manifests that imported GM soybean is worse in nutrition value and health functions than that of natural soybean produced in China, with some healthy risks in lowering immune and endocrine function, etc.
