Abstract: Objectives. After reading this CPE article, the nutrition professional will be able to: (1) Define Substantial Equivalence and discuss why it is a problematic concept; (2) Discuss the factors limiting independent research on GE foods; (3) Identify at least four potential health risks associated with GE crops; (4) Explain how consumers can avoid GE foods.
