Abstract: Genetic modification or GMO is a new technology that assures to give food security to the developing nations. Commercial growth of genetically modified crops has been increasing very rapidly. But some disagreements are also associated of using genetically modified crops. Though GM crops promises to give the food security to developing countries, at the same time increases the tendency to depend on industrialized countries as they are among the few dominant countries of GM Crop production. The quality of the GM crops should be judged also. The feature of the GM Crops may vary to that of conventional food. Every test results of GM crops should be published and these results must not be kept secret. In our study we find that some of the test results of GMO are kept secret. So transparency is very important. Proper labeling is also important. In several countries (e.g. USA) labeling is not mandatory (Sanders Amdt. No. 2310). So doubts to consuming animal genes in plants and vice versa increases. There are potentially significant human health effects of this technology, as well as sharply conflicting claims about its overall impact. So the question we have raised is if it is ethically fair to risk the future of human health by using genetically modified crops.
